That’s me Sarah Duck the owner of Little Duck Studios.

In high school we had a small class on ceramics where we glazed a large plate....(photo above). This has always been my favourite piece of art I did in school. Move forward a few years and I was in a bit of a rut in life with no real motivation whilst endlessly scrolling through Facebook I came across a small pottery workshop and decided to give it ago again.

 

I was quite surprised when I got to the workshop and that day’s theme was making clay vaginas but decided to stick around anyway. I am so glad I did because I fell in love with the process of hand building and the feel of the clay in my hand. This then lead to me enrolling in a full ceramics hand building course at my local studio to develop my skills and I haven’t stopped since. I now have a small dedicated studio right at home with thanks to lots of encouragement from my husband.

 

After the birth of our first bub I quit my full time gig as a property manager and now have the wonderful opportunity to work part time in my pottery studio, hand building wonderful functional wares and love what I do everyday

 

……. And yes that Ceramic vagina now hangs proudly on my studio wall to remind me that without that crazy moment I would not have found my second true love pottery.
